Timbaland, the famous music producer, has created a new kind of music artist — but she’s not human. Her name is TaTa, and she’s made with artificial intelligence (AI). Timbaland worked with Zayd Portillo and Rocky Mudaliar to build a new company called Stage Zero. This company doesn’t just make music — it creates artists, songs, and stories using technology.
TaTa is not just a voice or a character on a screen. Timbaland says she is a “living, learning, autonomous music artist.” Her songs are made using a platform called Suno, which helps create music with AI voices and tools. Timbaland and Portillo start with a song idea, and Suno finishes it using a virtual singer. They say TaTa’s songs come together faster and sound great.
Their goal is to start a new music style called A-Pop — short for “Artificial Pop.” They believe this is the future of music, where artists can be made from code instead of people. TaTa’s first song is coming soon, and an album is on the way.
However, not everyone is excited. Big music companies like Sony, Universal, and Warner are suing AI platforms like Suno. They say these platforms use real artists’ music without permission to train their systems. Some people worry that companies might stop hiring real musicians if AI can do it all.
Still, Timbaland believes this is just the beginning. He compares it to when YouTubers became more famous than movie stars — something that seemed impossible 10 years ago. Will AI music take over? Only time will tell.
